DUMSOR,,,,,,,,, MY TAKE

Ghana, Nkrumah’s Ghana was hit by one of the most turbulent energy crisis that can afflict a nation. And whiles we were aware of the effort by authorities to remedy the situation, many like me are dumbfounded as to when this will ultimately end and when exactly Ghana will be rid of this constant power fluctuations that plague us. The issues still remain whiles our politicians play “dog and catch” with the situation.

The West African Pipe Line has long been restored but I believe that instance must never happen again; where Ghana’s energy is solely reliant on the Gas from Nigeria via the pipeline which hangs always in the balance and hydro-electric power from Akosombo. The solution is simple; Ghana must not rely only on the Gas Pipeline and the Akosombo hydro power. For that we need more private entities to invest into the power and energy sector.

I write as a Ghanaian who is concerned but also to share my thoughts on how to solve this puzzle that has been a dent in our economy. Power goes hand in hand with productivity so you can just imagine what “dumsonomics” does to our economy especially our industrial set-ups.

This argument of alternative power sources has risen due to the recent pockets of “light outs” in some quarters of the capital. I thought I heard the president right when he spoke sometime late last year about the end of ‘Dumsonomics’. But many a Ghanaian will bear with me that, it is not entirely true. Our lights continue to go off unannounced and in a manner so disturbing.

The diagnosis of the current energy creates the picture that for our economy not to be stifled by a botched performance of our power sector; public/private partnership must be encouraged. And on that, I must commend private investors who have heeded the clarion call to invest in energy. The Sunon Asogli Power Plant started producing “some watts” around middle of last year and whiles that is good news, I believe other measures should be taken.

Now more than ever, the need for energy will increase as we seek to woo investors to our great country but at what expense? I wonder if the authorities have put measures in place to ensure, the national grid is capable of producing enough for everybody. In advanced countries, people turn to other means of producing electricity for households. Why can’t the same be encouraged in Ghana?

The use of alternate sources of electric power is no new to the Ghanaian market. In the year 2007 when Ghana faced its first energy crisis in over a decade, the then President Kuffour in partnership with some foreign firms provided generators powered by fuel to supplement what the national grid supplied to the nation. So it comes as no new thing that we need to look at other sources of electric power.

We need to consider using windmills or solar energy or betterstill power generation systems to augment the power sourced from Akosombo and other power electricity manufacturing sites in the country.

Many industries in Ghana already rely on power generation systems and other energy sources during the “dumso” period in order not to stall their productivity due to unstable times of power fluctuations.

Currently, the Bui Dam project is completed and the last time I checked, the Aboadze Thermal Plant was producing about 550 MG coupled with what other power generation sites are contributing to the national grid. But the question is “Is that enough to cater for the nation?” The truth might be unknown to us but the solution is not far from us; either we use reliable and efficient windmills, solar panels or generation systems like advanced countries door we just wait for the “dumso dumso” menace to affect our productivity and incur losses for us.

For the “dumsonomics” to be eradicated from the very core of our nation, Ghana and for that matter Ghanaians must look beyond the traditional means of providing energy to alternative sources of energy.

Camp meeting

EASTER CONVENTION CAMP MEETING
Covenant house chapel accra had a 3 day Easter convention from Thursday 18th April to 20th April,at Ghana Christian university college off dodowa road.
The camp was bless to have attendance of 56 people plus.Men of God who graced the camp meeting include our own daddy pastor Chap Awuah,Ps Ben Maccathy,Ps Amartey(ps nii),Ps Tackie and Prophet micheal..these big men lead us throughout the camp meeting
ACCOMMODATION
It was fun as all e guys spent enjoyable moment together with Foster as the leader.Wonderful leadership by Foaster the guys will always remember you for your teachings
The ladies had more fun as our mummy (Mrs Comfort Awuah) talked with them privately and one on one discussion on some private discussion about ladies ..Indeed mummy your mentorship style will always be remembered I pray our ladies will make you proud.The sweety leader Akyira made sure quite time is rightly observed .
On Thursday we enjoyed rice and chicken after the fast.Friday we had kenkey and fish ...Friday supper was so much on point
Saturday's jollof rice remembered me of my lovely mum ..Maa Esther.

We were bless and motivated by the prayer bulldozarof Covenant House Chapel accra Ps Ben Mccarthy on the topic ALERT (SPIRIT OF PRAYER AND INTERSECTION..Matt 26:36-46)
People who are alert,nothing take them by surprise.
Afternoon service was exceptional as our daddy Ps Chap Awuah took us through another mind blowing topic "DRIVEN BY THE SPIRIT "
The Christian comprise of four (soul,spirit,body,and the holy spirit)
The mystery of the blood by Pastor Maccarthy on friday evening was a good start and it made us aware of the things ahead..
Prophet micheal and Ps chap Awuah took over on Saturday.Can I call Saturday afternoon a prophetic encounter ...it was an unforgettable moment with the Lord.
As the saying goes last days are dangerous.Sunday service started by 8:00am worship and praise was wonderfully lead by brother Ekow.Did I see DADDY dancing ? ��,Am asking.The whole auditorium was heated by dancing.
Daddy lead us in a communion service.
The word of God came right after the communion.
I will say the message was a family discussion.
Daddy inspired us to go out and be ready to service God and help build the church...it was a solemn movement.Campers were impacted to do the work ..
2014 Easter camp meeting was a success and unforgettable one ..

My letter to the new graduates

There is a time for everything.you started from the bottom at nursery and now through hard work and focus you have graduated the university .I thank God for your life.
My question is simple. Are u coming out from school to continue wat people are doing or you are there to make a difference? graduates should stop depending on politicians and help themselves in making a difference and in developing our country. If you start from our communities, it will with time affect the nation at large .
first class and second class upper are good grades but not sure grantee of a good future. what can grantee you of a better future is the Passion to make a change.Don't over jubilate for getting first class or a second class upper, neither should you be sad for getting a lower class or a pass but develop ur Passion to cause a change in ur environment.Your class can't bring the change but your Passion for the change can bring the change.
New graduates,your importance can really be felt in ur churches,clubs,societies,when you cause the change they need .Don't be glad adding up to graduates in Ghana but be glad you are coming to bring the change your people need.My cherished graduates don't wait for a big platform to cause a change, start in your own small way and it will be big.
With God on your side and your Passion to bring the change to the people you will be succesful and your community, parents and in the ends the whole nation will be proud of you.congratulations to you all ....By Jeffrey jnr
